Amazon.in launches largest delivery station in the state of Tamil Nadu

Amazon.in announced the launch of its largest Delivery Station in Tamil  Nadu. The new station in Chennai will enable Amazon to strengthen its last – mile delivery network and ensure faster deliveries across the city. Delivery  Stations enable Amazon Logistics to supplement capacity and  provide flexibility to Amazon’s delivery capabilities to support the growing  volume of customer orders.

The company further announced the expansion of its delivery network in  Tamil Nadu including cities and towns like Namakkal, Tiruchengodu,  Sivakasi, Krishnagiri and Tiruvallur to name a few. With this expansion,  Amazon.in will have more than 120 owned and Delivery Service Partner  stations, and more than 1400 ‘I Have Space’ partners across the State. This  2x growth of the delivery network will enable Amazon to penetrate further  into smaller towns across Tamil Nadu and have direct delivery presence in  more than 1200 pin codes of the State with a significant number of  customers now being able to enjoy one-day and two-delivery promises. 

Commenting on the expansion, Prakash Rochlani, Director, Last Mile  Transportation, Amazon India said, “We believe customers, no matter where they are located, value  fast & reliable delivery. In line with our vision  of making e-commerce a part of everyday life, and transforming how India  buys and sells we have doubled our last mile delivery network in the State and  also opened Tamil Nadu’s largest delivery station spread across 24,000  square feet of space. This expansion will further create thousands of work  opportunities for individuals in Tamil Nadu as we continue to remain  committed to our long terminvestment in infrastructure and technology in the  State.” 

Shri. D Ashok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, T.Nagar, Chennai  was also present on the occasion of the launch of the delivery  station. “We value the presence of companies like Amazon India in our State,  making everyday life easier for people across Chennai and rest of Tamil  Nadu. Additionally this new infrastructure will further provide skilling and  employment opportunities for people and reiterate that the State continues to  be a preferred choice for companies” he added.

In its continued endeavor to create skilled opportunities for the youth in  the region, the growth of this infrastructure will generate work  opportunities for hundreds of people who gain technological and  operational skills to be successful, well aligned to the government  initiatives of Skill India and Digital India.
