
Madras Mylapore Ladies Circle (MMLC) #4 and Madras Mylapore Round Table (MMRT) #3 join hands with The Cherian Foundation in aid of providing wigs to marginalised cancer patients. The “GIFT HAIR GIFT CONFIDENCE” is the signature campaign aimed at encouraging economically underprivileged women cancer patients across the country to step forward and avail treatment.
Chairperson, MMLC4, Dr. Vani Vijay said, “This is a very emotional project to build confidence and a stronger mind to the women who undergo chemotherapy with severe loss of hair as side effects, thereby suicide rates and depression rate of patients have drastically come down over these years”. This is the second year of our association with The Cherian Foundation and through this partnership, we intend to provide 50 wigs free of cost to underprivileged cancer patients.
Sara B Cherian, Trustee of The Cherian Foundation said “This is the 4th hair- cum- donation drive of The Cherian Foundation. Thus far, we have donated 423 wigs through various partnerships. After 4 successful years Gift hair Gift Confidence campaign went Pan India on 8th August, 2018. Our target for the year 2018-2019 is to donate 50 wigs to Adyar Cancer Institute, Chennai in partnership with MMLC4 & MMRT3, and subsequently 50 wigs to Kidwai Hospital, Bangalore”.

Madras Mylapore Ladies Circle (MMLC) #4, Madras Mylapore Round Table (MMRT) #3 in aid of The Cherian Foundation donated 50 wigs on the charter day of MMLC #4, 22nd February 2019 at Cancer Institute, (WIA) in presence of Celebrity Ms Sneha Prasanna & Mr Prasanna Venkatesan– Actor, the Chief Guest and Dr. Selva Lakshmi, Director, Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar, the Guest of Honour.
Chairman, MMRT3, Vijay Srinivas said that, MMRT3 and MMLC4 have been associated with the Adyar Cancer Institute for the last 2 years and provided a park for the children of the Mahesh Memorial Paediatric Ward, donated wigs to cancer patients, built a temple and also donated specialised medical equipment, worth 1,05,16,000.
Madras Mylapore Ladies Circle (MMLC) #4 and Madras Mylapore Round Table (MMRT) #3 are a group of young Women and Men under the age of 40 who have been serving the deserving for the past 50 years under the Umbrella of Round Table India and Ladies Circle India, primarily building infrastructure like Classrooms and Toilets for the Deserving to achieve their motto of “Freedom Through Education”.
