International Expansion Targeted to Support Growing Business

Purchasing Power, LLC, an Atlanta-based voluntary benefit company offering the leading employee purchasing program through the convenience of payroll deductions, has opened its first overseas business operations in Chennai, India, leasing 12,500 square feet of premium office space at the DLF Cybercity.. The new Purchasing Power office is now operating with state-recommended COVID-19 guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Among its functional competencies for Purchasing Power, the Chennai office will provide business support for eCommerce website development; mobile app development; Oracle Apps development; QA automation; IT and website operations; data science and engineering; and business analytics. The team of professionals in India currently includes developers, technical architects, QA engineers, scrum masters, data scientists and engineers, plus DBA and IT operations engineers.

“Our objective for establishing permanent roots in India is to provide round-the-clock Software development and IT operational activities for Purchasing Power,” said Prakash Muthukrishnan, Purchasing Power Chief Technology Officer. “After several years of contracting offshore partners for technology projects and ongoing support and maintenance, our scope of business reached critical mass, making better sense to set up a more permanent entity. With the new offices in India, we’ll look to further expand the company’s technology competencies with business growth in mind.”

Purchasing Power has appointed Nagesh Kulukuru to oversee operations of the Chennai offices. Purchasing Power currently operates two central offices in metro Atlanta and employs more than 250 staff professionals. The company launched in February 2001 to offer personal computers for employee purchase through payroll deduction. Operating with an A+ Better Business Bureau rating, it has since grown to present more than 40,000 brand-name products and services—including major appliances, electronics, furniture, vacation travel packages and automobile tires—for customers who are unable or prefer not to use cash or credit.
