Arasi Commemorating International Day of Girl Child

ARASI – Commemorating International Day of the Girl Child was  organized by Chairman Mythili Muralidharan,  Peace Building and Conflict Prevention Team, RID 3232, which was  hosted by RC Chennai Thiruvanmiyur and participated by 15  Rotary Clubs from  Chennai, Thiruvanamali, Tiruchy, Theni and Coimbatore belonging to Rotary districts 3000, 3201, 3231 and 3232.

The theme for this year “My voice, our equal Future” reverberated through the thoughts shared by our Chief Guest Rtn. PDG Rajyalakshmi Vadlamani from RID 3150 who herself is a crusader of child safety in her region. She is an inspiring personality with many accolades and achievements in her personal, professional and social front.

Smt. Rtn. R. Komalavalli, Inspector of Police from Tiruvannamalai District gave a short and crisp speech on child safety, self defense and about the use of KAVALAN App created by the police department to rescue the girls in distress.

Last but not the least Keynote Speaker Ms. Sabarimala, Social Activist and Founder-Penn Viduthalai Katchi, inspired us through her hearty, emotional and caring speech on child abuse that’s ruining the children’s future in our country.

Creating awareness is one important task and  Posters on “Say NO to Child Abuse” both in English and Tamil was formally released today by Mr. Leelesh Sundaram who took efforts to design them. Kudos to him for his great dedication and responsibility at this young age.  These posters would be extensively used by the Rotary clubs to create awareness about how to protect and prevent children from abuse.

‘ARASI’ has made everybody think, dream and do more to save, protect, nurture and celebrate our girl children to create peaceful communities in the future.
