Installation of sanitary napkins dispensing stations in all the State prisons for women prisoners

Rotary International as part of its mission towards Welfare of Girl children and Women as a special focus area has taken up various service projects aimed at health, wellbeing and livelihood for women.

In an effort to provide Period Comfort for women under the project named Happy Periods, Rotary International District 3232 through 9 Rotary clubs namely Rotary Club of Anna Nagar Madras, Rotary club of Chennai Gems, Rotary clubs of Chennai Hallmark, Rotary club of IT City, Rotary club of Chennai Madhavaram, Rotary club of Chennai Spotlight, Rotary club of Chennai Thiruvanmiyur, Rotary club of Madras Industrial City, and Rotary club of Madras Temple city and Geo India Foundation came together and have sponsored sanitary napkins dispensing stations along with Incinerators for all the 9 prisons in Tamil Nadu namely
1. Central Prison Chennai
2. Puzhal
3. Vellore
4. Coimbatore
5. Trichy
6. Palayamkottai
7. Pudukottai
8. Salem
9. Madurai

Past District Governor, Rtn JB Kamdar handed over the machines to Shri Sunil Kumar Singh IPS, DGP Prisons and Shri Murugesan, IPS, DIG Prisons on 30th September at Women Prison, Puzhal. Also present on the occasion were Smt Gowri Ashokan, Chairperson Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women, Rtn Dr Ravi Varma, Director, Community Services Health, RI Dist 3232, Rtn Sarada Ramani, Chairman, Menstrual Health and Hygiene, Smt, Priya George, Founder Geo India Foundation, Shri George Steve, Geo India Foundation and all the 9 Rotary club Presidents and other Rotarians.
